Tyrese Maxey is the Eastern Conference Player of the Week after leading Philadelphia through a 3–1 opening stretch. The guard averaged 28.8 points, 4.8 assists, four rebounds, two steals and one block from October 20 through October 25.
The award reflects more than scoring volume. Maxey led the league in total points and made field goals during the week, while becoming the only NBA player to average at least 25 points, two steals and one block.
It is Maxey's fifth career weekly honor. For a Sixers team integrating major pieces around him, his first week supplied the stable part of the equation: pressure at the point of attack, scoring every night and enough two-way activity to keep the offense from becoming his only contribution.
