Former Eagle Miles Sanders faces DUI charge tied to June arrest

Former Eagles running back Miles Sanders is facing charges of driving under the influence and careless driving stemming from a June 8 arrest in Churchill Borough, outside Pittsburgh, according to court records cited by CBS Pittsburgh and other local outlets.

The criminal complaint alleges that an officer found Sanders in the driver’s seat of a vehicle stopped in the roadway. Police alleged that he appeared lethargic, showed signs of impairment and tested positive for alcohol on a portable breath test. Those are allegations in a pending case, not findings of guilt.

Sanders’ attorney, Phil DiLucente, told KDKA that the matter had not reached the preliminary-hearing stage and declined further comment. Sanders is entitled to the presumption of innocence while the case moves through court.

The Philadelphia connection is why the story lands with Eagles fans. The team drafted Sanders in the second round in 2019, and he produced his best NFL season in 2022: 1,269 rushing yards, 11 rushing touchdowns and a Pro Bowl selection during the Eagles’ run to Super Bowl LVII.

His career has been less settled since he left Philadelphia. Sanders spent two seasons with Carolina, appeared in four games for Dallas in 2025 before injuries ended his season, and is now a free agent.
